Collective Freedom: How to Support Yourself and Those You Love After an Abortion
Workshop at Let's Talk About Sex: The National Reproductive Justice Conference (October 25th - 27th)
Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia
Workshop: #76
Date: 10/25/2019
Time: 3:15:00 PM
Room: University

Workshop Overview: Marginalized folks who can get pregnant are no strangers to the aggressive anti-abortion policies that have been sweeping the nation. Destigmatization is a core part of reclaiming our power and our bodily autonomy. Abortion has been so politicized and medicalized, when the mastery of how to take care of our bodies resides within us. We believe that it is important to stimulate best practices conversations as a way to empower and remind folks of the knowledge that lies within/between. Our workshop is a brave container for folx to talk openly about abortion aftercare. To expand & reconstruct the narrative of abortion to include aftercare & community care. To honor + breathe our lineage in this work. Sharing skills to care for the mind+body+spirit in practical and non-judgement ways. We invite participants to take away comfort techniques, nutritional support and other care tools to add to their toolkits for liberation.
